The circus is coming to town.
It’s always interesting to see how your town looks on TV. It’s not necessarily something you always WANT to see, in the case of a disaster or something. Really, I’m not kidding.
My last town, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was the scene of a once in a lifetime flood.
It was on the news for weeks. Not in a good way.
Rhinebeck, New York has only been my town for a month or so.
It’s been on TV lately as the scene of Chelsea Clinton’s upcoming wedding.
Pretty much everywhere you go, you hear someone talking about it.
I’ve heard all kinds of stuff.
Today someone told us all the guests from the city are coming up on a special train.
It’s a secret though.
And that mom and dad Clinton are staying at the Such and So estate.
That’s a secret too.
Since I’ve now seen three strange portrayals of this pretty little town on TV, and not one of them really left the downtown area, I thought I’d show you a little more.
Remember, I’ve only been here a month or so, so I really have no idea what some of this stuff is.
Let me know if you do.
Gorgeous houses are everywhere. I love checking out the details.
And porches — porches are a specialty here.
Popped into the town hall, which is right in the neighborhood.
There was a craft fair going on, right in the town hall.
Oblong Books, one of the best bookstores you’ll find. I’ll take you on a real visit there soon.
I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t enjoying this day as much as usual. Thought I was kinda hot.
Then when I got home I saw the temp in this photo. That’s not the time.
As you can see, it’s a lovely town. A fantastic place to visit, just not the last weekend in July.
More to come.
ps. A must-visit place; one of my favorite stores here, the Paper Trail.
Looks like a beautiful town! Your photos are fantastic.

Kitty! I love your photos! I was up last weekend, but had my parents in tow, so time was limited for visits beyond the Orlean/Gillespie house and dinner at Mercato. I did, however, make it to Paper Trail where I dropped a nice little bundle and walked off with lots of goodies.
